Biography
Overview
After receiving his LL.B. degree from Adama Science and Technology and subsequently earning his LL.M. master's degree from Jimma University, Beki Haile has amassed over a decade of experience in contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and litigation. Throughout his career, he has skillfully represented a diverse range of foreign and domestic entities on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters, as well as assisting private individuals in complex cases.
As an accomplished attorney and legal consultant, Beki has successfully handled a variety of criminal and civil litigation cases, including commercial disputes, investment disputes, contract disputes, employment and labor disputes, and personal injury cases in both state and federal courts. His responsibilities have included the preparation of legal documents, provision of legal counsel to a wide array of clients, research and analysis of legal documentation, as well as negotiation of settlements in legal disputes. These experiences have contributed to his development into a distinguished and proficient legal practitioner.
Beki has also made notable contributions in his role as the Director of Jimma University Legal Aid Centers, where he dedicated his efforts to enhancing access to justice for vulnerable individuals. In recognition of his exceptional legal aid services to marginalized groups, Beki was honored with the Mandela Washington Fellowship Award in 2021. Additionally, he underwent specialized training on Leadership in Civic Engagement at Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, USA.
As a lecturer of law at Jimma University, Beki has imparted his wealth of knowledge to students through teaching a variety of undergraduate courses, including Law of International Organization, Law of Traders and Business Organization, Law of Insurance and Banking, Law of Contracts, Law of Succession, Property Law, Investment Law, Law of Civil Procedure Code, and more. Furthermore, he has conducted postgraduate courses on subjects such as Ethiopian Investment Law and Policy and Seminar on Contemporary International Commercial and Investment Laws, refining his expertise and enabling him to better serve his clients.
In conjunction with his role at Makkobilli, Beki also engages as a private attorney and continues to share his legal acumen as a lecturer at Jimma University.
