Ethiopian Council of Ministers, on its 25th regular session held on 27th of October 2023, has referred three proposed bills – Personal Data Protection draft bill, Rural Land Use & Management draft bill, and Special Economic Zones draft bill – to the FDRE House Peoples Representatives (HoPR) for further discussions and approval, FBC reported. The Personal Data Protection Bill was designed to introduce a detailed law that stipulates the rights of individuals on their personal information, laydown personal data protection system of Ethiopia, and set an enabling legal framework for the country’s digital economy, the report added.
