1.3. Job Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Junior Legal Assistant at Makkobilli Law Firm LLP in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The incumbent will play a key role in providing administrative support to Makkobilli Law Firm LLP’s legal team while also managing and organizing legal documents and records. The incumbent’s contributions will be vital in ensuring smooth legal operations and maintaining accurate records for efficient workflow.
2. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with preparing legal documents, briefs, and pleadings.
Assist legal staff with administrative tasks such as drafting legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
Conduct legal research (on case law, statutes, and regulations) and gather information for cases as directed by the legal team.
Manage and organize legal files and documents, both physical and electronic.
Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel as needed.
Draft and proofread correspondence, memoranda, and other legal communications.
Assist in case preparation for trials, hearings, and depositions.
Provide general administrative support such as answering phones and handling inquiries.
Coordinate appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements for attorneys.
Assist in preparing and organizing legal documents for court filings and client meetings.
Assist with filing legal documents with courts and other agencies.
Support the legal team in preparing for trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and documents.
Performs other related tasks as required by senior staff.
3. Requirements for the Position

Excellent knowledge of Civil and Commercial Laws.
Strong understanding of Ethiopia's legal environment and laws.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

3.2. Lingual Competency
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Amharic. Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
3.3. Educational Qualification and Experience
LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) degree from an accredited academic institution.
0 years of work experience. Prior related experience is advantageous.
